Hi,
I was actually looking for the same information as one of my ancestors was also buried in St Mary Moorfields (Finsbury Circus) though this was in 1839.

I'm now wondering whether perhaps St Joseph's Church might allow a brief visit as the grounds seem to be closed to the general public...

Any experience you might have in that regard would be most welcome...

J

ps: by sheer coincidence the previous generation married in 1795 into the family de Day de Gardères... something I myself hadn't noticed until now...

My great x 5 grandparents Faustin Jeffery, of Somerset and Catherine Byrne, of Dublin had many of their children baptised at St Mary's Moorfields between 1819 and 1837. I am keen to find out of they assisted at the church at all as some of their grandchildren were nuns and priests.

Any idea where parish minutes etc might be held?

Dear Simon,
I take it you will perhaps have tried ancestry.co.uk...? I found there all main parish records for that generation of my mother's family who attended St Mary Moorfields between 1820-1839 whenever they happened to be in London. Their name was de Montfort / de Chardonnay de La Marne.

Curiously, they were the same age as your ancestors, but having gone briefly through my own records of their letters from that period, and I'm afraid I didn't find any Jeffery... I did find however several Byrnes, but those eventually went to Portugal... And somehow we have managed to keep in touch until recently, but it may be a sheer coincidence really that it happens to be the same name,

Warm regards,
J. de P.

Hello one of the children had a god father called Luke Byrne. I would love to know details of your Byrne references, I know Catherine had a brother John and I am guessing another called Augustine.

Dear Simon,
Thank you for your message, which is most kind. The more recent generations were indeed close friends of my grandmother's... It may be helpful to check the details that are already accessible on geneall.net  The branch I was referring to are the ascendants to: http://geneall.net/en/name/1303777/goncalo-nuno-pinheiro-de-sousa-byrne/
Warm regards,
