I'm confused - I haven't been doing any research in East Riding for long, but can't understand why so many that I am looking for came from Holme on Spalding Moor or Market Weighton, but I can't find anything about them. For instance, my gt gt grandmother was Thirza Carr b 1788 Holme on Spalding Moor. She married my gt gt grandfather, Thomas Gell, at Pocklington 5 May 1812. Thirza's parents were Henry Carr and Sarah Wilkinson. I found their marriage on Family Search, 28 Nov 1780. I also found birth dates for Thirza's siblings. But can find anything further about Henry and Sarah.

Pocklington was a Registration District - with some 50 or so parishes.

An unsourced tree on Ancestry has Henry born "about" 1755?

IGI coverage of Pocklington parish registers covers 1559-1716 and 1856-1886, for christenings.
The period 1716-1856 has been filled by reference to Bishop's Transcripts, but there are gaps! ::)
E.G. 1740, 1751

Thank you so much for those - as I said I'm unfamiliar with Yorkshire, although some of my Lincolnshire antecedants also made the move. I don't know if that is too much for my little brain, but it should help.
