Robert Oliver Haywood (Lived Edinburgh)
« on: Friday 24 May 13 15:09 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any information regarding Robert Oliver Haywood.
He was born in Northampton but lived for most of his life in Edinburgh after his parents moved there sometime between 1926 and 1932.
He attended the Daniel Stewart College.
His father Robert Allnut Haywood was a professional cricketer and Robert Oliver Haywood was capped for Scotland in 1949.
He died in Edinburgh on the 21st December 1963.
Very many thanks
Peter Haywood

Freebmd shows he was born 1917

Exactly what type of info are you looking for?  Are you descended from one of his children?

Are you researching his ancestry?

Any marriage would be on Scotlands People  www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk which is a pay per view website

Thanks for the information Carole.
Basically I was very fortunate recently to have acquired a medal he was awarded for his Service as an officer in WW2 when he served in the Royal Army Pay Corps.  In addition, I have located several very nice photographs of him when he played cricket for the Daniel Stewart College First XI (he was the youngest pupil ever to have done so) and when he played for an Old Boy's XI against the College later in life.
As his Grandfather and Father were professional cricketers and an Uncle also played for a County Club I am looking to build up a picture of his life.  Sadly although he is not a direct ancestor, he is a very interesting member of the Haywood clan.
The RAPC have expressed an interest in him and in the fullness of time his medal, photos and life story will be going to the RAPC Museum.
Kind regards
Peter
