Can anyone provide an informed opinion why my Great-grandparents should require proof of their 1840 birth registrations via copy certificates issued in 1910?  Gt-Grandfather was a Gamekeeper and worked on until required to vacate his tied accommodation at the age of 75 after 35 years' faithful service to an ancient Staffordshire estate.  Sadly, both died in the Workhouse;  he in 1919 and she in 1925.   :'(
Might evidence of parents' British nationality be required by a prospective emigrant to Canada?
