James Quinn 1889-1967
« on: Thursday 19 June 14 22:35 BST (UK) »
My granduncle James Quinn was born near the city of Derry but in County Donegal, Ireland.
During the Great War he was in the Royal Artillery.
He married an English woman and they had no children.
He was an antique dealer and lived and died in Somerset.
Towards the end of his life he was in a sanatorium with tuberculosis.
This is all that I know of him.
Exact date of death unknown.

Any help or information appreciated

Hi, their is this James Quinn marrying in Somerset?

James Quinn to Elsie H Doble March qtr 1918 Taunton 5c 491

I cannot locate any children of this couple 1918 to 1928 in Somerset.

His death looks to be James Quinn born abt 1889 died Dec qtr 1968 Taunton 7c 449 aged 79
If this is him, purchase of this death certificate will provide all the key answers to your questions?!

KB, That marriage looks likely, as I found his death registration:

December qtr 1868
Taunton district    vol 7c, page 449

Quinn, James

There is also a 1917 marriage?
Axbridge district    vol 5c, page 831
Quinn, James W
McKenna, Gwendoline V

Can't see any children for them either?
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Thank you for your contributions. Everything points towards James being married in 1918 to Elsie Helina Doble whose parents were James Doble and Mary Vickery.
James must have been based in Taunton whilst in the Army.
Elsie had a brother named Edgar James; I wonder did he have any descendants who knew their Aunt Elsie.
Elsie died in 1967 and James in 1968.
