Ashley & Wilbarston Congregational Chapel
« on: Saturday 19 April 14 02:16 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have anything on the Ashley & Wilbarston Congregational Chapel at all? From what I can find online, it was situated in Wilbarston and records start in 1790.

Does anyone know when it was built?

Many thanks.
David.

Hi Sandy.

That second link was just the ticket! 1673 to 1963 was quite a long time! I was hoping it was only built in 1790 (when the records started!). Its a shame that records only survive for about a 40 year span of that! :(

Loved reading about the different ministers and how they established themselves from Harborough.

Many thanks.
David.

You are welcome David.

We went over to Ashley this morning and I had done about
half of the graves when the heavens opened.  ::) ::) ::).

Alot nearer you now than us.

Anyway I asked about Ashley & Wil Con: Church and was told it was
now called the Manse, so next time I go I will see if I can find it you
don't do it first.  :)

Thanks Sandy,

Dont think i'll be able to get near it for a while. My wife has finally (after 6 months om being here alone in Northants!) had her transfer come through. So I she might want to do some non FH related things for a bit (Women eh?  ::) )

Thanks anyway! Are you transcribing the stones then at Ashley or just having a good nose around?

Best wishes and thanks,
David.

David.

I never just nose around. LOL.

It is just a Churchyard that was at the top of the County with Leics I hadn't done yet.

Yes I am doing all the stones and using the excellent N.F.H.S. M.I. booklet to
make it easier, although since they transcribed them, some have been added,
naturally, and others moved elsewhere.

I always take a row shot of the graves and then singularly (in case I miss them).

Will be good for you to have the Wife around.

Yes. Cant wait!

You havent come across any stones with the surname True have you?

Just a shame the wife doesnt appreciate my enthusiasm for FH. But oh well! Life goes on!  ;D
