William Bishop/Helen Maxwell

Hello, I am trying to find the parents names  of William Bishop born abt. 1775  & I believe died on 7th June, 1850.  He  married Helen Maxwell (b.1780)  on 1st October, 1799.
I believe they all came from around Midlothian, Edinburgh, Scotland.
Any ideas on how I can proceed to the next step  on the family tree?  Thank you

I can only find 1 William Bishop born c 1775 in Midlothian in the 1841 Census. Occp Chimney Sweep.
Is that the 1841 Census you have for our William?

The one who married Helen Maxwell was a Smith (Blacksmith) according to the Marriage Record.

How many Children to you have for William/Helen?

I have found these Births;
DAVID, 20 Jan 1803
MARGARET, 07 April 1805
ALEXANDER, 30 May 1807
JOHN, 22 March 1809
HELEN, 28 Nov 1813

Helens Father was Alexander, a Brewer, North Back of Canongate


Scots often named children by following a simple set of rules:
1st son named after father's father
2nd son named after mother's father
3rd son named after father
1st daughter named after mother's mother
2nd daughter named after father's mother
3rd daughter named after mother

Hi trish1120,  Thanks for the reply.
  I found William & a  wife Helen Maxwell in "Scotland, Births and Baptisms 1564-1950" which shows a child Margaret, another one for Alexander, another one for John .
 On the same site it shows John Bishop Bapt.29 Mar 1809 and his parents as William Bishop and Helen Maxwell.
I have the same children's names i.e. David, Margaret, Alexander, John, Helen.
Do you know the date of marriage of Helen Maxell and Smith (Blacksmith)?  Perhaps William died and Helen remarried.  Or was there two Helen Maxwells?   
I still need to find William's parents name.  Where would I find William's death notice?  Thanks for your answers

Sorry the way I posted that answer may have confused you.
I was talking about William Bishop and Helen Maxwells Marriage.

William BISHOP, Occupation Smith
Helen MAXWEL
Brides Father Alexander MAXWEL, Occupation Brewer, North Back of Canongate.
Notes, Alternative spelling of Surname recorded BISCHOP

Thanks trish1120,   I must stop doing research late at night. I mistakenly read Smith as a surname not an occupation.  Thanks for clearing this up.  Not sure yet if the other Bishops belong to my tree but thanks for including them.
Can you make any suggestions as to how I proceed to find William's fathers name?  Do you know of anywhere that I might find their names. OR Williams date of death?
