BRUSEY family
« on: Sunday 20 June 10 08:58 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the family name "Brusey" .  An ancestor Eliza Ann Brusey, if that is indeed the correct spelling, was born at Balhannah, South Australia, but I have been able to find little about her except she married George Hunt, a draper, of Adelaide in 13.4.1876 and had 7 children.

IGI has a marriage for Samuel BRUSEY to Mary Ann BICE, 31 May 1852 at Port Adelaide.

This is the only record from IGI for this surname in South-west Pacific area.

I guess this photo restoration is a relative to your Eliza Ann ;D

Marriage in SA
HUNT George  30 years  Widower  Father George HUNT
BRUSEY Eliza Ann  22  Single  Father Samuel BRUSEY
13 Apr 1876
At Residence of Samuel BRUSEY, Adelaide  Ade V 107/160

I can't see a birth for Eliza...keep searching...perhaps her name has been mistranscribed.

Sorry I am getting nowhere with the Brusey's.

There was an unclaimed letter for Mary Ann in 1858. (that is about all I have found.)

The three marriages - No births, no deaths. Her mother remarried in 1869. Eliza weds at the home of Samuel BRUSEY in 1876. Since neither John nor Eliza's births seem to be registered I guess this could be a brother also unregistered. To date I have found nothing to clarify if this is likely father or someone else. Mum lists as a widow in 1869.  :-\ No very helpful I am afraid.

Looks like Mary Ann arrived with her sister in 1849 aboard the HIMALAYA

family can be found in Gwennap Cornwall in 1841.

father is deceased by 1851 and Mary Ann and Johanna are not with the family.

I have found a couple of suggestions that Samuel may have died in Victoria in 1867. Somebody will be able to check that for you.

If that is so, perhaps they will also be able to check for births in Vic for you.

Cheers Kris  :)
