Hi Neil

As this subject seems to be ongoing, thought I'd add my bit.  I'm researching my daughter-in-law's tree.  She has a James Todd (or possible James Middleyard Todd) born about 1785 and married Mary Young in Jarrow, Durham in 1806.  James and Mary had at least 3 children, Barbara, Isabella and Jane.  Jane married (1812-1888) married Joseph Mathew Cummings in 1837 at South Shields. Joseph Mathew Cummings junior married Elizabeth Ann Windle.  Joseph and Elizabeth's son Harold Everson Cummings migrated to Australia in the early 1900s. He was back in England during WWI and met his wife to be there (Cecilia Armstrong).  After the war they both came out to Western Australia.

Do the names James [Middleyard?] Todd and Mary Young ring any bells??

Regards
Ann

Hi Westozi, There are quite a few James Todd's within many families of TODD across DURHAM. These include brothers of my earlier GG and GGG and GGGGGgrandparents.

I have one born 1787 who married a Issabella Todd, not cousins. My tree extends back to the early 1500's and even earlier although I have no written confirmation except for a mention in The Bishop Palatinate Records in 1268 as Woodcutters employed by the Bishop of Robert and William Todd at the BIERS the early name for Byers Green. As the one family has been in Durham for so long there are many, many branches and it was these that I am trying to define more accurately.

I will of course keep this record of your James and try and define his pedigree.

Good Hunting
Neil
