Too many Hannahs and too many Johns!!
« on: Friday 26 September 14 14:28 BST (UK) »
Hannah Griffiths married John Taylor 29 Jul 1841 Tenbury Worcestershire she was 19 her father was Thomas a labourer His father was John also a labourer. On subsequent censuses he was born in Stoke Priors she in Tenbury.

Question Where were they both  in 1841? and who were the John Griffiths  and Hannah in Tenbury in 1841?
John was in Pigots for 1835 and 1838 as publican of the Crow Inn Teme St Tenbury and appears to die in Tenbury "found dead in bed in the Crow inn aged 63 Nov 17 1841 buried Nov 20"
then a John Griffiths appears in Tenbury on the 1851 census a labourer b Eastham in 1775 married to an Ann
I think this one was brother of Hannah's father who was born in Eastham both Thomas and John baptised in Eastham sons of Thomas and Esther/Hester nee Norman. But where was this John in 1841? Can anyone check the marriage index for a John Griffiths and Ann marriage please he was born 1775 and she in 1788 so the marriage after 1805 and before 1851
John TAYLOR was supposedly born in Stoke Priors about 1820 but he does not appear in the Stoke Priors registers BUT a John was baptised in Tenbury son of John and Mary
I am confused to say the least by this I did not find any other children for John and Mary TAYLOR . I wonder if anyone can check the marriage index at the Hive for a John Taylor and Mary wedding about 1820

Its a real puzzle is anyone able to help sort it out please

Good Afternoon
Possible marriage for John Taylor and Ann at Hanley Castle
Familysearch
John Mayfield Taylor 3.12.1810 to Ann Willis
Daughter Ann baptised there 10.11.1811
and a remarriage at Castlemorton 8.7.1847 to a Anne Colston
He seems to have been the son of a Thomas and Mary Taylor christened at Hanley Castle 23.6.1779.
Sorry not found anything else.

Many thanks for that it puts another john in the frame I am now thinking that Ann was John's second wife and he is the one with wife Esther in 1841. An Esther died in Dec qtr 1846 and a John married an Ann in 1849 all in Tenbury. That leads to a further problem as the 1849 marriage in Free BMD lists two possible Anns either Ann James or Ann Parsons so I need to find both ladies in 1841 to check their ages  ???
Then there is the problem of who the Elizabeth was who was married to Thomas Griffiths first child 1813 (Hannah's parents)
At the moment I seem to be going round in circles with this family

Hi
You asked for a check in the Worcs Marriage Index . I only had time to do a partial search this time:-

1) John Griffiths to an Ann 1805- 1851.

1805-1813
1806  Sept 1  John to Ann Alcock at Bromsgrove
1808 Mar 31 John Griffiths of Clifton-on-Teme to Ann Hitchen at Claines
1813 May 17 John a widower to Ann Goodman at Ombersley.

2) John Taylor to Mary about 1820

1819 July 15 John Taylor of Great Kyre* (that’s near Tenbury) to Mary Benbow at Tenbury
1820 Nov 16 John to Mary Layland at Redmarley
1820 Dec 19 John to Mary Bayliss at Kidderminster
1821 April 19 John Taylor  a widower to Mary Sanders at Tenbury
1821 Aug 6 John to Mary Matthews at Dudley

In another message you enquired about
Thomas Griffiths married to Elizabeth 1st child born 1813

I couldn’t see any  marriages in Worcestershire around that date for Thomas and Elizabeth

You have also mentioned a  John Taylor marrying an Esther:-
1807 June 11 John married Esther Horgrove at Dudley

Hope there’s something you wanted amongst the above.
Jack
