Thank you so much everyone.  I am delighted you have been able to help me.  No I hadn't considered him to be a policeman rather than a soldier.  I have ordered the marriage certificate but it hasn't arrived yet.  I did wonder if the Court Registers on FindMyPast were for my E M Tunny and what sort of information there is but I need to upgrade my FindMyPast to find out which I probably will do later in the year.

There are about 285 of them that appear to be him, all on Petty Sessions is appears.

So that would be where he was the named Police Man for each issue that he was involved in, from finding someone drunk in the street, to finding someones sheep on the road.

MOST of them make very funny reading  ;D

Thanks.  I did the FindMyPast sub on the special offer for £1.00 but it doesn't cover those court records but gives me the option to upgrade.  I think it was a good idea for FindMyPast to do the offer because I have been impressed with them so far and I didn't expect to be because they had a lot of bad publicity following changes to their website.

I have gotten some of my best finds through them !

It's like ALL sites, they all have their strengths and weaknesses.

Findmypast.ie I find best for prison records, old newspaper articles & old directories.
