It looks like he had other convictions. I will have a look when I visit Swansea again. Perhaps there are more convictions and more newspaper articles on him, maybe even a mugshot.

The West Glamorgan Archive also holds some petty sessions (magistrates) court records. If they exist for the date of the assault you might find a transcript of the case in the court minute books. There were several such courts in the area, I think.
