The NA have this record - http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C11734551 - for an RAF record. Which might explain why he was in India.

I cannot find it on Findmypast though.

If you search the NA using "reuben butler" you get other hits for what may be his father and someone further back - a riding master and burglar respectively.

I'm not sure why your post is so vague as you've already been given information on Reuben Charles Butler-

If his death was registered in Lambeth district (as has been found for you several times so far) then he didn't die in India. He may have been in India at one time and perhaps even taken ill there and brought back to England but he died in England. If you get his death certificate it will list the exact place of death as well as the cause of death.

There is a tree on Anc.... with a picture of him in Army uniform, on the back of the picture it says ' just returned from India, died of cancer'.

His death was registered in Lambeth. Have you contacted The London borough of Lambeth cemetery office. They may charge for a search in their cemeteries so it is better to have the exact date of death and address to allow for a quicker search. There is also an independently managed cemetery in Lambeth. If he lived near a borough border it is possible he was buried in a cemetery say for instance in Southwark but start with Lambeth first.

Once again PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION POSTED FOR YOU ALREADY.

Just because you 'found' a death year of 1929 on a family tree online does NOT mean that it is accurate. It has already been discounted and Dawn , as well as others, have pointed out the only death 1926.
