Elizabeth Francis [sic] KNIGHT b abt 1876
« on: Saturday 12 July 14 17:50 BST (UK) »
On 15 June 1893 at St Mary's Newington, 17 year old Elizabeth Frances [sic] KNIGHT, d/o George Francis KNIGHT, attendent, married James COLLINGRIDGE, 19, s/o James COLLINGRIDGE, corn dealer.

On 14 Aug 1893, they had a son, James, who died the same day.
On 12 Apr 1894, they had another son, again named James, who also died the same day.

At some point between then and 1906 James abandoned Elizabeth and took up with Florence Maud GREEN, his uncle William's wife's dau and fled to Canada.

According to James' and Florence's grandson, James returned to visit Elizabeth a number of times (to Florence's annoyance apparently).

But what happened to Elizabeth?  I can find nothing more about her.  I haven't found a birth and she's not the Elizabeth who died in Coventry in 1940.  I can find no remarriage for her.

I'm not worried about James COLLINGRIDGE, father or son.  I have them well taped.

Electoral registers for Southwark have someone of that name

1945 - 12 Hodson Street, Southwark- others in house - Alice Le Breton, Henry G Mills & Agnes E Mills

1946-1951  also has a William T Collingridge

I can't see anything on BMD that links William T to your Elizabeth

Thank you.

Sadly that Elizabeth is Elizabeth Flora nee DAVIES born Jun qtr 1879 in Lambeth RD but registered as Elizabeth Flora DAVIS

William Thomas was her son by Robert Henry. They're distant cousins.

The 1951 death you found is Elizabeth Flora as well.

Thank you for having a go at finding Elizabeth Francis.  At least it's not just me.  I also have some additional information about Robert and his family now, so all was not in vain :)

Sarah was nee Collingridge, so presumably James' sister.  Alice Maud was the young daughter of Thomas & Sarah, born 1884.  She died in 1897, aged 12.

Yes, there is.

Sarah Ann was James' older sister.

Their Uncle Henry became an ostler in Covent Garden Market when he arrived in London, laying the foundations for the family fruit and veg merchants started by Henry's son, John.  A number of family menfolk worked as porters in the market, some for the family.
