Amazing that the surname Conboy also came up on the Leitrim board today - a thread originally started in February 13

Thanks - It is bad enough that I wear glasses but it is the pits when they don't work.

I would like to take the Bone family back a generation. Elizabeth's parents are shown as William Bone and Sarah Ann Ward. Their marriage took place 1874 Spalding which sort of conflicts with Elizabeth's birth date according to death cert of  abt 1870. The 1881 Fairfield Derby census shows W Bone(1834) and S A Bone(1846) with family including a number of children born prior to marriage date. Do all of the children belong to William and Sarah or was William previously married? Can someone have a look in 1871 for William please?

1871 census, Spalding Lincs

William Bone 36 Laborer ? (can't decipher) House b. Silsoe (?) Beds
Mary A 29
Elizabeth 8
Mary 5
Eliza A 3
George W 1

All except William b. Spalding Lincs

Also a lodger Thomas Withers

There is a death on FreeBMD for a Mary Ann Bone in 1873, if I remember correctly.

Ages of the children seem to be off a little in the 1881 census compared to FreeBMd records. I don't see an apparent birth record for Elizabeth Bone who is 9 in 1881, either. There are, however, a couple of births for Elizabeth Ann Ward about in Lincs. I wonder if she might have been born to Sarah prior to the marriage to William Bone? Elizabeth's death record has her father as a John Barber? I don't see a Barber-Ward marriage, however, and Sarah married William as Ward.

Anyway, food for thought.

Thanks PB

Coincidence or not but there is a John Barber living in Spalding in 1871. Seems to be a bit old I would think.
