William Myler
« on: Tuesday 03 December 13 07:59 GMT (UK) »
Could someone kindly check a birth in 1838 Wexford for William Myler.  He did military service 1853 - 1857 in UK & the records state he was born in 1838 Wexford & was a Merchant Navy Seaman.   He was aged 23 when he married Elizabeth Cronney in the Catholic Chapel, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, UK on 26/12/1861 & his father's name is given as William Myler, Shoemaker.   Any information on this Myler family would be gratefully received.

The RootsIreland website index brings back a baptism for a William Meyler (father William) in 1838 in County Wexford, it might or might not be him, its pay to view.

I'm afraid the earliest full surviving census of Ireland is 1901, returns prior to that, with the exception of a few (usually called 'fragments'),  were destroyed for various reasons.  I'm not aware of any surviving fragments for Wexford.

Griffiths Valuation (print date of 1853 for the area) has two William Mylers, one in Michael Street, New Ross, the other in Ballycanew:

Thank you so much Gaffy.  Each piece of info helps me along the road to trying to find my Myler family tree, either by eliminating or confirming who fits where.

I now have obtained the death certificate for William Myler (Milor) who died aged 62 on 27/1/1910 in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.    Along with his military service & marriage & death records it would appear that the birth of William Myler in 1838 at Wexford is probably the person I am looking for. What is the best way to order a copy of this birth certificate?

It isn't a birth certificate, this predates civil registration, so you are talking about a church baptismal record, this link explains the situation:
