Captain John Cooper died 1732 Danbury - Captain of what?
« on: Saturday 04 October 14 20:53 BST (UK) »
I've just found the burial record of my 8x great grandfather. Is says 'Capt. John Cooper'.
How would I go about finding out what he was a captain of?
Interestingly his sons have the prefix 'Mr' in the baptisms of their children. I asked about this in a previous thread and was told it meant they were either of some standing in the local community or owned their own property/small holding.

Just found his marriage in little ilford in 1695! Says both of Danbury, so it's the right one. It's a long way from Danbury?

Hi Trevor,
Now there's aquestion. I had him down as marrying Etheldred nash, also from danbury, in 1695 in Little Ilford. The president for the marriage says that they were of danbury.
Their first child was samuel born 1696.

I'll have to look at the cold norton PRs as the cold norton baptism seems a possibility.

I don't think the marriage is a likely match as Etheldred didn't die til 1738, which was after John on 1732.

Thanks again
