Erm. . .if you have got her on 1841 census, that must be before the marriage, as William would only have been 12 and Sarah 15!

Duh, sorry!

I don't have her in the '41. I also can't find William with or without a family in '51.

All of the children were born in Risby as were William's siblings (father = Abraham). Caution though, there are two Abraham Sharpes in Risby!!!

Most likely marriage appears to be

Jul/Aug/sep 1853
Thingoe
Ref 4a 603
William Sharpe  / on same page Sarah Coulter

(Eldest child I see on censuses was bn 1855)

But to be 100% sure you would need a birth cert of one of the children

William is listed in 1851 as Sharp (no "e") living in Risby. He is with grandfather Thomas age 91 widower, also Abraham (widower) presumably his father and probably brother Thomas age 24. As Thomas snr is head, all relationships are referenced to him.

Looking at other pair in that marriage, the most likely james Cates is a 32 year old widower in lodgings in Risby, so can't tell who was his wife. But there is a death reg for Fanny Cates in Q1 1861 Thingoe district and none for a Sarah Cates so it looks as if Frances Spalding became Mrs Cates.

added: forgot to say James C - widower was from '61 census

That works! There is an Anne Coulter living with them in 1861 shown as sister-in-law!

Thanks to you all.
