Possibly Criss or Cruss rather than Cross.

Regarding "Con" most of the others on that list also have Con - what is the heading at the top of the list?

Sorry not much help. I would look for a marriage between John Bell and Jane Cr*s.

Hello Ruskie.

Thanks for looking.

Extracted record:
John Bell & Jean Cross
Marriage: 5 April 1812  Old Monkland, Lanark

Column headings are : ch, p, w  = Christian name, parents, where ?

The header says OPR Births but the dates are probably baptism dates and I'm wondering if Con = Congregation.

Cross it is then.  :)

Sorry I can't speculate with certainty on the possibility of Con = congregation, but I suppose it is logical that the child was baptised in front of the congregation, which would make sense as most of the others were too. I see at the top of there is one with something different written beside one of the names. :-\

I'm sure someone will know.

Not sure if it applies in this case, but I have sometimes come across records where the abbreviations in the last column indicate which church in a larger parish. Genuki or a gazetteer might shed some light on it.
GRAY - Inveresk; Lanarkshire
LINDSAY - Lanarkshire
PURDIE - Lanarkshire; W. Lothian
POZZI - Elgin; Lancashire
MACKENZIE, MORISON - Stornoway
ARCHIBALD, HAY, HUNTER, SNADDON - Clackmannanshire
COXON, HALL, JACKSON, SHOTTON - Northumberland

Could it be an abbreviation of the Latin for "Married" (i.e. indicating the parents were married).

I keep going back to it but can't make out the abbreviation beside Elizabeth Pettigrew at the top of the page ... Fot? Ft? I'll be interested to know if anyone can shed any light on that ....

The OPRs sometimes record baptisms and proclamations at churches other than the parish church. I think "FoT" may be FC for Free Church.  So Con. may be Congregation.
