Thanks a lot Trevor, I shall try and have a look this evening. Is this the right forum for electoral role lookups as well?.. The whole Jordan family for whatever reason moved from Canterbury in Kent to Peterborough and I'm working through the information to tie down the relevant time period..

Appreciate your help

Regards

John

Hi Margaret,
Thanks for the information. From what I can find online appears that both 45 Westgate and the White horse inn no longer exist...

Thanks Trevor,
The druggist at 45 Westgate is well and truly identified for the period im looking at. The question is what is the connection to the Jordan family?..

I've established that William and Margaret (nee brown) originated from Canterbury in Kent and had at least 5 children.
Frederick b circa 1858
Julia b circa 1860
Robert G b circa 1865
Lydia M b circa 1869
Frank W b circa 1870

Have you got the census records for the family in 1891?. In that year I believe that Frederick and his wife were running a bookshop in Barking Essex with his brother Robert. Yet i dont know where the rest of the family are until Margaret turns up in Peterborough in the Pub.

I dont want to put you to any trouble or would you suggest i repost as it can become messy.

Regards
John

Thanks Trevor,

So in 1891 the family are split and it appears that William may have died. So i wonder where Julia (31yrs) and Lydia (22yrs) are?.. Perhaps in service somewhere?.. just a thought

I know it doesn,t look right for Julia but the Julia in 1901 cen says married so in effect she wasn,t a Jordan but married to one of the boys !!
