William Frost DCM
« on: Thursday 21 August 14 16:19 BST (UK) »
Hi, not too sure if i should post this under armed forces or not, my grandfather William Frost was awarded the DCM for his part in WW1, he served with the Cheshire Regiment and his number was private 27464. the family folklore is that he and his wife had to attend the presentation, either in Birkenhead or Chester, so i assume that took place after the war. My question is where would that have taken place, and also would this have been in the local press of the time, if so where would these records be kept. There are no surviving photos of this man and it would be wonderful to put a face to our family hero.
I have been told that the William Brown Library could possibly hold some information, but as i live in Scotland that is out of the question. Any help would be appreciated.  Regards Daisy

Thanks for your reply rosie, i had that information from Ancestry, but didn't know where it came from, or the publication date, so thanks for that. If i could get the date of the actual presentation it might be possible that the local paper would have covered it. I will have to keep digging.
Thanks for your interest.

Regards Daisy
