The 1841 census for Newcastle upon Tyne has Christopher Urwin  b1791, wife Mary  b 1791,
James,
Ann,
Mary,
Can anyone find or tell me how to find Christopher's father.

Thanks Alan...

Hi

If I've found the correct man in 1851, he says his POB is Philadelphia, Northumberland, which is a township within Gateshead, which isn't too far from this record.

baptism ~

Christopher URWIN bp. 8 April 1787 Christ Church, Tynemouth. Parents : Christopher and Jane.

I think that the Philadelphia you need is actually in Northumberland - close to New York and Murton.  It’s parish church would be Tynemouth though I have seen references in Earsdon records too.

The Tynemouth baptism found by Claire.t  reads

8 April 1787 Christopher son of Christopher and Jane Urwin of Murton Stead, Banksman

This could be your Christopher as it is in the right location.  It also fits with the age range on  the 1841 census which rounds all adult ages down to the nearest 5 years.

Thanks Christine
That info you gave me  sounds wright  because Christopher Urwin's daughter Mary married Thomas Hudson and the only Thomas Hudson I can find is living in a house in Tynemouth with a load of women can't trace his father,
Thanks again.
