That's him same address as given on the death cert. of his wife in 1879 but his occupation then was a Gardener ( as per his marriage). So I assume he must have changed his occupation and became a Confectioner later

Stays there until Kellys 1884.

Mmm.....

CHL remarried in Dec 1883 Gloucester they moved to Glamorgan by 1901 and were living Vere Street Barry

He's at the same address in 1881 census confectioner widower.
1871 just around the corner at 348 Summer Lane age 33 from Cheltenham again a confectioner with wife Ellen 23 born Malmesbury Wilts
Can't see a mention of him as a gardener ,but the marriage isn't a problem as Kelly's is often a year behind on change of address.It depends when they updated the data for the directory,presumably before Dec 1883.It would then have been printed and sold the following year.

That's the couple surname transcribed as Lovesly - Ellen was 31 when she died in 1879

He only appears to be noted as a gardener on his wife's death certificate and their marriage cert. - when his dau Florence married in 1908 his occupation was a confectioner
 
Don't have all my info. to hand at the moment so I can't remember if his occupation was a confectioner when he was living 9 Vere Street Barry Glamorgan with his 2nd wife Rose M (Maria) b1849 Cheltenham & their dau Rose M b1890 Swindon  in 1901/1911

Do you by any chance have access for the Trade Directories for Barry Glamorgan?

Good job you asked.I notice he also appears at 103 Livery St Confectioner 1878 and 1879 in the Post Office Directory for Warwickshire.
As for Wales and Barry

1910 Kellys shop keeper 9 Vere St
I'm not in that area so we don't have so many directories for Barry.So I'm not sure if he's not in the earlier and latter ones or we just haven't got them.

Can't see him 1901.
The 1911 gives him as a General dealer 9 Vere St

Just googled Vere Street Cadoxton -

there's a Greengrocers & Fruit Sellers called

Vere Street Mini Market
address 52 - 53 Vere Street

and on the opposite side of the road a little further up a

Pharmacy
address 9 Vere Street

will have to investigate to see if there are any old photo's of Vere Street around that time
