Denis HOGAN / Anne REYNOLDS
« on: Wednesday 14 May 14 13:39 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for marriage details and anything else on Denis Hogan and Anne Reynolds.
Information I have that has been passed down by family is -
Denis Hogan c.1821 - 1859, carpenter from Ireland.
Anne Reynolds c.1825 - ?, from Tipperary.
I cannot find when/where they married nor when/how they emigrated to Australia.
Their two children were born in Australia (Kyneton, Vic): Ellen Hogan b.22/6/1856 and Denis Hogan b. 28/10/1859.

Any info or hints much appreciated.

Thanks so much tara. I checked again for Dennis with two N's in the immigration records and found him on board Elizabeth bound for NSW in 1844. He's listed as a carpenter from Tipperary :) (though there is a two year discrepancy in the age)
Now to hunt down how Anne got here.

That's great that you are starting to get somewhere.

Dennis got out of Ireland just 4 years before the Great Famine took hold of Ireland - he was lucky !

Great that you now know that he too was from Tipperary.

So, next step is to get the marriage cert for their father's names and occupations to see what leads we can find you in Ireland.

Tara

Without getting the marriage cert. I have Denis and Anne's parents' names as passed on through the family with the other info I originally posted. Scant details though:
Denis Hogan's parents - Michael Hogan and Ellen ?
Anne Reynolds' parents - Tom Reynolds and Margaret Kennedy
Don't know whether this can lead anywhere?

Hi There

I have issues with working on 'passed down' names as opposed to documented names.

Best Of Luck Though !

Possibly a sibling of Anne:

Thank you scotmum  :)
This seems very very likely. Adam and Julia ended up in Carlsruhe and my Hogan descendants wound up in Kyneton, only 7km from there.
