Can't see a Birth or 1851 Census Entry: DYER
« on: Tuesday 03 June 14 08:37 BST (UK) »

I've found this Death in 1854:

DYER William Robert
Godstone Volume 2a Page 77

However, I can't find a Birth or Marriage for him, and I can't see him on the 1851 Census.

As he Died in Godstone, - I've been looking in that area.

Cheers, Romilly.

What age are you expecting him to be?
Could be an infant, could have been registered as "male" .

Birth
Jul/Aug/Sep 1854
Godstone
Ref 2a 110
William Robert Dyer

I suspect he died in the first fewdays/weeks of life.

IF, however, thatdeath DID refer to an older person, then IF they had married it would likely be before 1837, likewise their birth
But I suspect it is the death of that baby  you have found.
To be 100% sure, or course, you would need the death cert to ascertain an age, or a burial record.

ah, Carol has found some more while I was typing!

Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Many thanks Carol and Lizdb.

That will explain why I couldn't find him on the 1851 Census!

(I am still looking for a Death of a William Dyer between 1847 - 1855, - that I've previously posted about, but never found). The boundaries between East Grinstead/Lingfield/Godstone/Felbridge seem to move between Surrey and Sussex a bit at this time...

Romilly.
