Hello

I've no reason to believe Jonas was John Allen Lenton. If this was the case he was only 15 at marriage.  However, I can't find a Jonas Lenton in C1841, but there is an entry for Ann Lenton in the Alconbury Weston Union in C1841, aged 35 and with children Sarah 12 and John 10 - which matches the information you provide.

Both baptisms, for Jonas & John Allen, are listed in FamilySearch

Is the Jonas Lenton's baptism you've seen on the IGI the one done 27 July 1800 at Hemingford Abbotts, son of John & Mary? Is he the one at Waterbeach, Cambs in 1841 b 1801, with a wife Ann 1801 & daughter transcribed Susan 1829 but most likely is Lydia ? ; and reappears in 1851 at Boxworth Cambs b 1800 Hilton Hunts; widower with 3 daughters.  Why would he marry at Alconbury in 1820 ?

I'd like to see from Hunts marriage index any other John/Jonas Lenton who married an Ann/e around that time.

I still suspect Jonas Lenton who married Ann Rignall in 1820 to be the John Allen Lenton.

Thanks David for that, but I've no links as yet to Lenton from Wansford, Peterborough area. I suspect the marriage was at Little Stukeley because Ann Francis was from there; there's a few of that name there in 1841/1851. I cannot find that couple anywhere in 1841/1851.

Next...  "Jonas" & Ann Lenton, of Weston, baptised daughter Mary Ann at Alconbury on 4  Feb 1821... I suspect she to be the 20 year female servant at Eynesbury in 1841 with farmer Edward Peck. Also she most likely married William Hall in St Neots RD in Sept 1842 as in 1851 in Alconbury there's a William Hall 1821 Alconbury with wife Mary Ann 1825 Buckworth & 3 children; plus a convenient birth index of John Lenton Hall in June 1844 in St Neots RD. However he must have died as the 1851 census has a 9 month old John registered in Huntingdon in Mar 1850.

I'd like to see the marriage entry in Sept 1842 to see the name of Mary Ann's father.

My interest is in the Elizabeth Allen, she was most likely daughter of John & Elizabeth Allen christened at Alconbury 18 Oct 1776. This ties in nicely with burial of Elizabeth Lenton at Alconbury on 8 Mar 1835 age 59. My question is are her parents the same John & Elizabeth Allen that christened Matthew Allen there on 27 Nov 1759 ?

Back to original question, I was looking at Alconbury cum Weston PR transcript yesterday at Hunts Archives & conclude that this is not the same John & Elizabeth Allen; but there is still a relationship.

(1) John Allen married Elizabeth Cossbrooke on 7 Apr 1740
They baptised John 4 Sept 1742, Robert 13 Dec 1744 (he was buried 16 Dec 1744), Robert 17 Aug 1746, Thomas 6 Jun 1748 & Matthew 27 Nov 1759; all children of John Allen, carpenter.

Matthew Allen's great grand-daughter Alice Allen married Thomas Bishop; their daughter Mabel married my grand-father Frederick Partridge.

(2) John Allen, carpenter married Elizabeth Smith on 4 May 1768
They baptised John 8 May 1769, Robert 19 Oct 1770, Richard 9 Apr 1773 & Elizabeth 18 Oct 1776. Interestingly this lot spelt their name ALLIN but I reckon this John is son of first John & Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Allen married John Lenton on 8 Apr 1801. Their great grand-daughter Gertrude Lenton had illegitimate son Reginald who is Liz's father. Small world  :)

... next I now conclude than Jonus Lenton is not John Allen Lenton

John Lenton of Wansford married Ann Francis otp at Little Stukeley on 28 Mar 1826, witnesses Jane Francis & Thomas Francis. This does not state his full name, nor give an occupation and I'm still wondering why he was from Wansford.

Anyway John & Ann Lenton, postboy, of Alconbury baptised daughter Sarah Ann on 25 Oct 1829 & son John on 1 Nov 1831 at Little Stukeley. Next John & Ann Lenton, postboy of Weston baptised son William (LINTON) on 2 Dec 1838 at Alconbury. He was buried aged 1 at Alconbury on 12 Nov 1839.
John Lenton of Weston was buried Alconbury on 20 Nov 1839 age 33. His widow Ann Lenton of Weston was buried Alconbury on 5 Sep 1880 age 76.

Sarah Ann Lenton of Alconbury, daughter of John Allen Lenton, postboy married William Brawn of Alconbury at Alconbury on 11 Nov 1856. On 1861 & 1871 census mother Ann Lenton, widow born 1806 Barham, Hunts is living in Alconbury with William & Sarah Ann Brawn & family. Widow Ann & children Sarah Ann & John can be found on 1841 & 1851 census.
