MARRIOTT family Tamworth Staffordshire
« on: Friday 09 May 14 07:25 BST (UK) »
This is my first use of on-line forums - so I'm not sure how to start a discussion.  I have information to share about my family who were based in Tamworth from around 1780 to around 1950.  Hopefully someone may have information to share with me. My family include John Marriott & wife Anne, Thomas Marriott & wife Louisa, William Marriott & wife Emma, their sons Albert Ernest (but always called Jack) Sydney Herbert, Harry Conrad Marriott and daughter Edith Mabel (married name Balding).  Also Jack Rupert Clive Marriott & William Marriott (sons of Sydney Herbert Marriott) Also Vandy Clifford Marriott and his sisters Gwen and Jose. If any of these names are known to you I'd be very interested to hear about it.

Hi Steve you mention you were looking for an Albert Ernest Marriott per chance I am also looking for a person of the same name. My Albert Ernest Marriott would have been born about 1925 (TBC) and he married a Audrey Phyllis Mayhill (my 2nd cousin x 1) in 1957 this marriage would have taken place in Auckland, in NZ.

Cousin Audrey born in 1921; therefore a couple of years older than Albert I have located her registered in the 1957 North Shore main Electoral Roll under her maiden name Mayhill and also that same year on the 1957 Auckland Central Supplementary ER as Audrey Phyllis Marriott it is a fair assumption that Audrey & Albert married in 1957. I know Audrey had been overseas in England between 1953-1954 and I have not managed to isolate when or how she returned to NZ.

I have tracked Audrey and Albert Ernest Marriott via the NZ Electoral Rolls living in Dunedin Otago between 1963 - 1981, Albert was a school teacher there is also an Otago Daily Times headline in 1988 for Albert Marriott relating to "Dunedin North Intermediate school. Teachers end long service. Interview".

I would be interested if you have any information that may help to corroborate if this may be your Albert Ernest Marriott. I am sure my Albert was not born in NZ and he does not appear to have died up until 31 July 2014 and could still be living .

From Public trees on Ancestry there may have been 3 children, in 1981 living at the same address 7 Arthur Street, Dunedin is George William Stanley Marriott, Student this would be a son.

Cheers Brian

Hi Brian,

Your Albert Ernest Marriott is not mine.  Mine was born in the 1880s and never left England.  Sorry I couldn't help!  Best wishes.   Steve Marriott.

re: Sydney Herbert Marriott
Hello
in doing research for headstone photos that I took in Courtenay BC, I have found the wife of Sydney Herbert "Bert" Marriott.

His familysearch.org ID is LZP4-72F.

He passed in Comox, British Columbia, Canada on November 6, 1980.  His wife, Barbara Duncan, has recently passed  (2002).  Sydney was cremated in Victoria and I suspect that his wife was as well.  Where he is laid to rest, I do not know yet, but hopefully this is helpful information for you.
