This looks like Richard's baptism from Sparsholt PRs

May 17 1801 Richard Hicks, son of Richard and Mary

I could find no marriage for Richard and Mary .....

And these burials may help David

May 23 1827 Henry Hicks age 1
Nov 20 1850 Richard Hicks age 84
Nov 20 1852 Richard Hicks age 51
Nov 16 1847 Mary Hicks age 78

Hope this helps  :)

Hi David

I have just started tracking back my grandfathers family. His name was William Sidney Hicks and his father was Thomas born 1844(?) in Sparsholt with mother Elizabeth and father Richard I think. Thomas was living in 35 Dendy Street Balham in 1881 census and was a milkman. this ties in with documents from my grandfather who lived there as a child, we think the youngest. He emigrated to Australia in about 1910. Are we talking about the same Thomas Hicks. Grandad lost track of the family during the WW1, so we are trying to track back. If so your mother and my grandfather may be siblings. I would be interested to find out.

Hello,

I am new to this but the mention of Hicks Family Sparsholt caught my eye.

I am researching the Hicks Surname (my mother was a Hicks).

I have traced my Grandfather Thomas Hicks Born abt 1846 Westcote, Berks via the census.

I believe that Richard Hicks was Thomas's father, his mother was Elizabeth. This was found on his Wedding cert.

The rest of the family on the 1841 Census were: John 1828, Josepth 1830, Sarah 1832, Mary 1834, William 1837, George 1839, Ester 1841.

Thomas appears on the 1851 Census born 1846.

On the 1841 census there were 28 Hicks  in Sparsholt and in 1851 33.

Are all these people related to each other????

Please can anyone help me with any info as my search for a birth cert for Thomas has so far drawn a blank.

If you can please advice me.

Thank you

David Tucker

I am researching the Hicks & Tackley families in East Hanney, Berkshire, early 1800/late 1700s.
Sarah Tackley married James Hicks, in West Hanney, 1791.
Sarah, christened 10 Aug 1772, West Hanney, daughter of Richard & Ann Tackley - other children:  Richard, Ann & William.

Any takers, please?    :) :) :)
