CRICHTON, CROCAT, MCKENZIE,FARQUHARSON,
« on: Wednesday 30 June 04 15:56 BST (UK) »
 :)
Hello from the Smallest State of the USA- Rhode Island,

I am hoping that someone would be kind enough to help me further research my ancestors. Specificially, I am looking for

1. ancestors of JAMES MCKENZIE b 25 Sept 1720 in Glenisla
and m to
ELIZABETH FARQUHARSON on 29 June 1771 in Kirkton of Glenisla.

I believe JAMES' parents are William McKenzie b @1694 in Cornerlaugh and a Mrs. McKenzie b @ 1698 in Glenisla.  Has anyone further researched this line?

I have no idea who Elizabeth's parents are.

2. ancestors of DAVID CRICHTON b April 2, 1765 in Auchterhouse, Angus
and his wife
ISABELL CROCAT - no information.

Thank you so much if someone is willing to help me.  Eventually this line ended up in Dundee working in Baxter's Jute mill and finally crossing the"big pond" to Fall River, Massachusetts.

Sincerely,
Beverly

Hi Beverly

Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.

Have you made any progress,  or do you have any further details that could help someone to find what you are looking for?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Hi Beverley, Just found your post from many years ago. I do have some information on these people if you're still interested. My mom is Charlotte Melville (1920-2011) and named after her grandmother, Charlotte Crichton (1852-1938), who is the daughter of Alexander Crichton and Mary Summers. Alexander's parents are David Crichton and Charlotte McKenzie. David's parents are David Crichton and Isabella Crokat and Charlotte's are James McKenzie and Elizabeth Farquharson. My grandfather, William Fairbairn Melville (1876-1958), came to Vancouver, BC, Canada in 1912. I have only been researching this part of my family for a few months. Would be interested in knowing what information you have and which relatives immigrated to Rhode Island. My name is Patti Jackson and I live in Vancouver. Hope to hear from you.
