Help with deciphering Indian name from early 19c will
« on: Wednesday 17 September 14 06:16 BST (UK) »
I have a will (of which I will probably ask for more help soon) but for now I am very keen to decipher this Indian name - it's a female name and occurs in the middle line of this snip. The first name looks to me like Battee and last name possibly Nanoratin but then again possibly not. Thanks for any help.

I agree with Battee as the first name.

With the surname, I am inclined towards NANORACIN.

It's a judgement call, but the upstroke isn't tall enough for a "t".  See "place and continue" earlier in the extract.

I agree with horselydown86 about the 'c' in the surname. Could it be Nanoracue? Nanoracur?

ADDED: Now I see the dot of the 'i' & agree 'Nanoracin' with horselydown86.
