tracking down family of Pilot P/O L.M.Leech(RCAF)
« on: Monday 26 May 14 08:58 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I know very well the rules of rootschat that there will be no info given for living persons but maybe can help me someone with my request to send me a PM when the possible family is found??

I am looking for the family of P/O Laurence Malcolm Leech ,J/5490 RCAF who is the son of Sidney Charles and Clara Leech, of McAdam, New Brunswick, Canada.  P/O Leech piloted and captained a 214 Sqdn Wellington who was shotdown in the night 15/16 April 1942 between the Dutch villages Helmond and Deurne while underway to a target at Dortmund. I am already in touch with two relatives of his crew Sgt J.Ward(who recently visit us here in Holland) and the family of 2nd pilot P/O H.A.Shortt.  P/O Leech was the only Canadian member of his crew.  Recently we discovered the actual crashsite.

Many Thanks in advance for your proffesional help

Canada Voters Lists shows the family in 1940 - York; Sunbury, New Brunswick, Canada.
Sidney & Mrs Sidney Leech - Sidney was a machinist. Lawrence was listed as a school teacher. The elder brother Donald was a labourer. No sign of the third one who was listed on the 1921 census.

Canada Voters List for 1962 shows  Sidney Leech (no wife listed) - York, Sunbury New Brunswick - Sidney retired. 1963 shows both Sidney Leech (retired) and Mrs Sidney Leech.
