Can anyone please tell me where this place is? I think it is around Belford/Lucker area but I can't find it on a map.

Thankyou

Hi

Where did you get the place name from? If it was a handwritten record such as a parish register or census record, could it have been Harelaw?

If possible can you post a link to the original image where the name appears?

Isabella Trobe, 1881 census living at Amble, place of birth = Warelaw (Warelaws?)

RG11; Piece: 5120; Folio: 103; Page: 24

I have also been looking through Richard Pococke's Travels Through England. A brief quote from that book comes up as " Warelaw, which appears very beautiful. " I haven't yet found that comment.

So near in yet so far!

Have you checked other censuses to see what they say about Isabella's place of birth?

Warelaw/Warslaw
A lower case s could easily be mistaken for an e.
(census image does look like an e though)

The Warslaw mentioned in "Travels Through England" is in Staffordshire. Should be Warslow
