Military magazines in Dover
« on: Friday 28 February 14 18:39 GMT (UK) »
Hi

My grandfather was an "explosives maker & filler" before he joined the army in WW2, & he was born & grew up in Dover.  I know there where no gunpowder mills in the town, but believe that there may have been magazines at the Castle &/or the Western Heights, so he could have been employed at one of these places (his father & both grandfathers were also ex-army men).  Does anyone know if there are records anywhere of those who may have worked at such places?

Many thanks

I don't know of any explosive factories here in Dover - I think they were further up the line.
