Woof burials
« on: Sunday 12 October 14 03:51 BST (UK) »
Recently I asked for help re burial details for Woofs who lived at Ashington. I have found a death for William Woof's daughter which gives Hirst as the place. I have contacted the relevant churches and hope to have a reply soon as to where the three are buried.
Thank you to all who replied to the original post.

Dates and places where they lived (Ashington was the biggest mining town in the world at one time) might get you a better response.

Thank you very much for checking this. I was about to approach Holy S. It must be St John's then. I emailed the Reverend there and offered to pay for a search but received no response;  he may not have had time to do yet as family history queries won't bei his priority.
Thanks again,
Ophir

I have databases for all Ashington area burials but you still need to be a bit more specific or are you wanting ALL Woof burials in the parish for ALL denominations for EVERY year?

Gen - Thanks for offer to check on this.

William Duncan Woof died 6 July 1946; formerly of 18 Blyth Terrace
James Woof died 6 May 1957; formerly of 44 Blyth Terrace
Isabella Woof died March 1905 aged 4 yrs - a death or funeral notice was published on 20 March 1905.
They were all Church of England.
Isabella nee Fenwick, William's wife may be buried with him; James' wife Annie, nee Hughes was Catholic and buried at St Aidan's RC churchyard.
Janis has checked the records for Holy S so I think they will be at St John's.

Gen -
Thank you for all this Woof information! Delighted to know where they are  - indeed thanks to the transcibers of  these records. Interesting that James W wasn't found. A relative said they he was not buried with his wife in St Aidan's but perhaps this is incorrect.
Again, thank you - as I am still one-eyed I'm only logging on every few days which is the reason I didn't get back to you sooner.

Don't know if she is one of your WOOF's?
