Army records transcription
« on: Wednesday 05 November 14 14:48 GMT (UK) »
My great uncle fought in the second Boer War and was granted a couple of medals. I've managed to transcribe the first as the Queen's South Africa Medal & Clasps, Paardeburg & Relief of Kimberley. Granted 3.5.1907 but have been unable to read what is below this. Any ideas?

I think the date in 1907 is for the Long Service & Good Conduct. It is hard to read but the other date - 1908? - may be when the £5 gratuity was awarded.

if you post his army details I can check the medal roll for more information.

Thanks so much, I did think it was 'Long service etc. but couldn't make out the initial words. I'll just put issued anyway.
Thanks again
