Teddy Francis Davies
« on: Sunday 08 September 13 18:03 BST (UK) »
Hi I'm trying to trace my great grandfather who seemed to have abandoned the family after his wife died in the 40's - 5o's.  I know the following details;  teddy Francis Davies born in Ffestiniog in 1905 to William Francis Davies and Maggie Roberts.  Can't find him living with his family in the available census, but i do know that he married his first wife, Mary Ann Howells in 1932, now living in Neath, Glamorgan.  They had 2 children together, my grandmother and her brother.  When Mary died (still not sure of date as she has such a common name) but from what my nan told us she would have been about 14, which would make the year of her mothers' death close to 1950's.  As far as we know Teddy abandoned her and her brother and they went to live with other relatives.  I can't trace him after this, perhaps he got married again?  he doesn't have a common name but could have called himself Edward?  Just wondering if anyone might know anything.  thanks

Could Teddy have been an engineer, there are a couple of shipping records for an Edward Lee Davies, out to Bombay from Glasgow 11 Feb 1944,ship Modasa, which was wartime, and a later one from Liverpool. 30 Jan 1954 ship Circassia to Karachi.both addresses given were Port Talbot.

hello, thank you for your reply.  i've actually found out the same information..although can i ask have you assumed she died in a hospital or is there someway you can find this out.  Mary Ann died quite young, and have since found out that teddy died in 1939 in the same area.  they were both in their 30's which is terrible considering they had small children too.

Hello, that would certainly tie in with what i know, she gave birth to my gran's brother dec 1934.  is there a way i can find this out myself or have some sort of record of it?  i have no idea how teddy died, again died young, i'm wondering if it was down the mines or something.  have checked newspaper records but can't seem to find anything.  thanks
