John Bridge
« on: Friday 11 July 14 16:50 BST (UK) »
Further to my post of 17th January.  Found a bit more on John Bridge, so looking for help
I cannot access "find my past" but apparently he is listed as John Bridge b 1872 Military Service.
on" family search" he is shown as marrying in 1901 Suffolk and another John b 1870 Risby is also listed.
I would be grateful if anyone can throw any light on the above. Still cannot tie him up with his family as Groom gave me on 17th Jan.  I have been told me may have been Alfred John???
Thanks
Y

To Recap, this is the person being searched for:
CWGC: Private J BRIDGE, Svc G/28995
Royal Fusiliers, 34th Bn. transferred. to (60287) 101st Coy. Labour Corps
Brother of Mr. D. Bridge, of 5 Church Cottages, Risby
Risby War Memorial
http://www.roll-of-honour.com/Suffolk/Risby.html

Census : at 5 Church Cottages, Risby
1881: William & Sarah, with sons David (13) Harry (5), and daughters Mary Ann (11), Hannah (9)
1891: Sarah a widow, with sons David (23), Henry 15 and daughters Mary Ann (21), Hannah (18)
1901: Sarah a widow,  with son David (30) & daughter Mary A (28)

The 1911 does say Sarah had 5 children, all living? We've identified only 4 (in the 1881 Census).

Is this she and William's marriage, birth of their first child & 1871 Census? :
MARRIAGE: June Qtr 1867, Thingoe, Suffolk - on same page
Sarah BRIDGE
William BRIDGE

BIRTH: David BRIDGE , Sep Qtr 1867, Thingoe

CENSUS 1871: Church Cottages, Risby, Suffolk
RG10- Piece 1725 / Folio 133 /Pg14
Head: William BRIDGE 39, Bricklayers Labourer,
Wife: Sarah BRIDGE 29,
Son: David BRIDGE 3,
Dau: Mary Ann BRIDGE 1
All born RISBY

Did Sarah really have 5 living children in 1911……? but for this, or maybe in spite of it - I might have suggested the CWGC is incorrect in naming his brother at the address that leads to William & Sarah, or at least his relationship to D BRIDGE - that additional information on the CWGC is not necessarily added anytime near the death, sometimes it's from years later, and whoever provided the information might have been mistaken.

I did wonder, if Sarah was also maiden name BRIDGE, that she had a child born before her marriage to William BRIDGE…….but the only John BRIDGE registered Thingoe is March Qtr 1868.

That John is probably this one, here (father John, mother Sarah) :
1871: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/VFNW-MH4
1881: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XQSZ-XPJ
1891: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/4F9S-Q2M
1911: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/X7GV-4GD

And that John again, appears to be the same one who married Beatrice Maud NUNN in 1901 - he born abt 1868 Horringer, Suffolk.

And he is here:
http://www.oznunns.com/tree/f2029.htm
http://www.oznunns.com/newgenealogy/getperson.php?personID=I3487&tree=newgent

Beatrice M BRIDGE  died 1941:  age 68 , Registered Bury St Edmonds.

If her husband is :
John BRIDGE, death Mar Qtr 1949, Bury St Edmonds - age 81 (born abt 1868) then  you could  rule him out at least.

I'm also tending to think your John might actually be Harry!

Cheers

Ambly
You have gone to a lot of trouble on this one, thank you.
However I am still interested in the John Bridge in "find my past" Military service. Can you help on that one?   Very difficult to pin him down as whoever I discover would have been quite old when serving in WW1.
Thanks again
