helen munro help please
« on: Saturday 05 April 14 05:41 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone.  I am trying to find information on my great grandmother HELEN MUNRO.  I don't know where she was born, but she died in CARLUKE in 1956, at age 73, so was born about 1883.  Her first marriage was to a david hindman in 1904 Coatbridge.  She died with the surname of DUNCAN, so I assume this is her 2nd marriage.  I have one child born to david hindman in 1906, named William in Coatbridge.
I am really stuck on finding info about her.  Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

many kind regards from Heather

Do you have Helen's first marriage cert to David in  1904  which should name her parents.  Have you looked for the couple on the 1911 census, which should give her birthplace?

Both can  be searched for on the Scotlands People site which is a pay to view not a subscription site http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

There is a tree on Ancestry that lists her parents as James and Margaret S Munro, but it is unsourced and no ages/birthplaces etc are given for them.

If she was rather creative with her age there is this family living in Old Monkland, Coatbridge in 1891 that may be worth looking at once you have confirmed her details

James Munro 37 Carriage Hirer b Little Dunk'd Perthshire
Margaret Munro    36 b Perth
Catherine M Munro 16
Isabella Munro 15
Robina Munro 13
Helen Munro 11b Stevenston, Ayrshire
James P Munro 9
William Munro 3

Hi Heather,

I used to work in this department of Scotlands People and I notice you appear to have had

problems a few times with their site this surprises me as we always tried to correct any problems within 24 hours .

They will solve any problems with credit/debit cards--- access to on line accounts --- if a certificate

is illegible they will endeavour to improve it for you.

I suggest you contact them again by email and  keep  at them until your problem is fixed

They don't like bad publicity about their site.

Good Luck

Jessie

Her name was Helen Duncan Munro she was born at 124 Causewayend Aberdeen (A96/A944 for the Googler's) on 3 OCT 1882.  Her father was James her mother was Margaret Sim.  Her parents were married 18 APR 1879 in Banff.  James was the son of John Munro and Margaret Cruickshank and Helen being the daughter of George Sim and Helen Duncan (no surprise there).

You owe me 12 credits ;)

Don
