Taylors & Simpsons from Drumgrannon, Moy
« on: Monday 07 February 05 01:19 GMT (UK) »
Looking for any information on William Thomas Taylor (b about 1855) and Marianne Simpson Taylor (b about 1856). I have a baptism record for their 3rd child at St James Church (Church of Ireland) in Moy, Tyrone/Armagh so am assuming first 2 sons were born there and maybe they were married there.
I know William was a farmer and Land Bailiff for Lord Charlemont and Marianne was a Teacher and Music Teacher.
The whole family went to Birkenhead, England late 1800's.
I know William had 6 sisters. I think one might have ran an Inn.

Note: two topics on same family merged
Taylor & Simpson - Drumgrannon, Moy, County Tyrone, Ireland
Taylor - Birkenhead, Seacombe, England
Savage - County Tyrone, Ireland
Savage - Milngavie, Scotland & South Africa
Cooper - Ireland & Milngavie

Young - Barony, Calton, Glasgow, Scotland
Galloway - Stirling & Glasgow, Scotland
Campbell - Jura & Stirling, Scotland
Murdock -England, Nova Scotia

Hiya Clannessie,

I do not have a lot of information for you. I looked up Moy and Charlemont in the 1852 Directory of Belfast and Province of Ulster. Your mention that one of William's sisters ran an Inn made me wonder if any Taylors might be in the Directory. Sure enough there was a George Taylor who was a publican at Charlemont. Moy and Charlemont are two little towns, really one town, divided by the river Blackwater. A search through later directories may disclose the name of the sister who ran the Inn.

All the Best, Christopher

Not sure why I never answered his post....

but William Thomas Taylor's last son was named George.

Wonder if the George Taylor you found is related. I have always assumed William's father's name was Robert....since my Grandfather was the first son and he was named Robert...and he in turn named his first son Robert also...but by that time his last name was now Trainor...long story  :)

Did you ever find out if any female Taylors ran an Inn?

thanks,
Karen

There's not a Taylor listed in the 1861 directory

I am looking for any info on a William Thomas Taylor. I know he was born 21 July, 1855. His father was a Robert Taylor. Both were Land Bailiffs. I know William was bailiff to Lord Charlemont. I know William married Mary Ann Simpson of Aghinlig, Armagh on 8 June, 1880 at Charlemont Church of Ireland. I know her father was John Simpson a farmer.

I am trying to find out where William was born.
His Mother's name
Any info on Robert Taylor or his wife.

My Grandfather was a Robert Samuel Taylor born in 1881.

Thanks
Karen

Don't think so- Clannessie's looking for a William Thomas Taylor born 1855 (before civil registration).
