An address near Falkland *** COMPLETED ***
« on: Sunday 18 May 14 21:01 BST (UK) »
Hi again fellow Fifers

I've come unstuck with the address on a Birth registration from 1896 in the District of Falkland, Fife (attached below).

Can anyone help?

Regards

Family surnames being researched ...
Crawford, Neilson, Lindsay, Reekie, Davidson
Drummond, Laing, Pearson, Tulloch ... will do for starters but there's a whole lot more!

Hi Skoosh

There is a "Drums" just off the A912 Falkland - Muirhead and a "Nether Drums" on the opposite side of the road. I suppose it could be that.

"Drums" is on the 1832 Thomson Map and also the current OS Map on the east slope of East Lomond.

Thanks

Hi CF

You have marked completed but just wanted to add that there are entries showing on the 1891 and 1901 censuses for Upper Drum(s), Falkland. In 1891, a farmer Peter Barclay showed there with wife, daughter and 3 servants/labourers. Again, 1901, seems to indicate a farm, with a large household headed up by a William Collier. Also a further household headed up by a Louisa Collier, with three young children.

Hi Monica

Thanks for the little extra.  The search was in connection with a ploughman's son born at the farm who, sadly, was a casualty of WW1
