James is the 6th great grandfather of my husband and the trail has come to an end could anyone offer any help or suggestions to search more sources many thanks

Hi, I think you need to give us a lot more information. Maybe the line back to him would give some clues as to where to start. I guess you must have quite a bit of information to link him to your husband.
