I wonder if anyone can help me I'm trying to find information on my wife's ancestors who came from  the Tavistock, Devon area. I have got back as far as Tobias WATERFIELD b 1705 married a Elinor SIMON date unknown, they had a son Richard b 1744 no other info. on any other family members.

29 Sep 1750 Tobias WATERFIELD son of Tobias & Elinor

A Tobias WATERFIELD was baptised 1 Jan 1719 son of John. Unfortunately, John does not appear to have married at Tavistock.

I'm very curious about this post as I am descended from Tobias on my mother's line - she was a Waterfield. If you would like to PM me we can perhaps see if we are linked. I can go back another 5 generations to about 1600.

Thank you for your message, I'm tracing my wife's dad side back He was Leslie G Waterfield 1917-1995, born in Plymouth and was a fisherman, which a lot of his ancestors were. If the information I have is correct I have reached Tobias Waterfield 1662-1710. It would be interesting to see if you are related to my wife. I have an email address if your interested.
