Thank you  for the information on Rosa .  Maybe the mortgage bond will  shed more light on this.

 I knew that Rosa remarried to  James Lewis-Williams. & had more children.

Interestingly the bond was taken out in the Cape Province, whereas she died in the Transvaal (TAB).  There was another bond that she also took out in the Cape as well which is at the Archives. I am not sure how much information you would get from a bond other than the address of the property.

I would imagine that they were both taken out for property in Aliwal North.  Just makes me wonder why John died in Newcastle, Natal.  He was only married for 9 years and does not appear to have an estate so I presume they moved there shortly after their marriage.  I wonder if the children were born in Natal.

If you get her estate file record you should get some idea of where her children were, and possibly who they had married.
