Need help deciphering grooms place of residence COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 11 October 14 23:15 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I would appreciate help reading this word. So far my guesses haven't come up as a place. The marriage took place in Ballyroney, County Down, in 1866 but I have no idea if the groom was from this area (the bride was). I don't believe the mark that looks like the dot of an "i" is signifying the letter i- there are random dots like that all over the page.

Thank you!

I read it as Belfast, Grallagh and a quick Google search found some hits.

Hi
Could it be decomed?

If you google this you get some hits such as Deechomade, as a townland.

I agree, it could be Decomed or Decomid. Have you seen this thread - marriage certificate with the same place name. http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=327185.0

THANK YOU! It is Deehommed. The OP in that thread was looking at a marriage from the same church as me. Doing a search for Deehommed brought up the groom's father in the Tithe books.
