Eccott Family.

Hi,

I am trying to trace any children born to Walter James Eccott (b 1861) & Margaret Annie Dean (b1863) after 1900. I have been unable to trace the couple in either the 1901 or 1911 UK census & believe that they may have been in Scotland because one of their children,that I have managed to trace,Eustace Nevill,was probably born in Dunbarton.   Walter James was a tax inspector.

There are 6 matches for the Eccott surname in 1911 in Scotland , one of them is a Walter J Eccott aged 49 living Midlothian.

There certainly looks to be a birth for a Neville in 1906. Have you viewed this image of the birth online to confirm?

Ev's 1911 entry looks a great possibility. Might be easier to find them in 1901 if we had some other children's names. There are 3 Eccott births showing on SP between 1895-1911. This would explain why Neville doesn't show on SP for 1911 possibly https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XWDW-66M

Arthur C Eccott age 11 in 1911 Midlothian , can't see a birth in Scotland.

There is an Arthur Charles Eccott birth 4th quarter 1899 Ipswich England on freebmd.

Thanks for replying - they are all the correct family. I think I will have to check on Scotland'sPeople website. The names of other children traced are;Walter Yardley (b1896 Ipswich),Arthur Charles (b1899 Ipswich) & Denis Franklin born 03/04/1903,(Glasgow City).

The Cambridge Independent Press, Sat 10 May 1890 in an item headed "Surveyors of Taxes" refers to ".... Mr W J Eccott, of London, succeeds Mr Stevens at Ely....."

The Glasgow Herald, Tue 22 May 1900, in an item headed "Income Tax Commissioners refers to a "... W J Eccott, surveyor of taxes"
