Henry Gane Rogers (mad harry)
« on: Sunday 01 December 13 15:01 GMT (UK) »
Henry G Rogers, my great grandfather. B 1847 Midsomer Norton died Coventry 1922 sometime coachbuilder, wheelwright, blacksmith in Clandown Nr Bath.
His business finally went  "pop" in 1902. the only artefact we have is one hub cap with his name engraved on it.

2 questions
1  Looking for any photographs of the coachworks/workshops - sited immediately to the north of Clandown School and now subsumed into a scrap metal dealers yard.

2  Any information on his later life in Coventry after his second marriage to Jane Isabel Scruby at Guildford in 1906. Who did he work for? We have an idea it may have been for Daimler or Cross and Eliis but not substantiated.  He lived in Cox Street Coventry which is quite near the above works.

Any info or help gratefully accepted as usual.

Thanks

Hello radstockjeff,

The Bath Archives may have some information to answer question 1. They should have some details on the coachworks and your ancestor.

You may find it helpful to post the second query on the Warwickshire Board.

Jo.
