I have applied for the death certificate, lets see if that tells me anything else.

Thanks

As William Deane's occupation was listed as a Butler, presumably at Castle Archdale House,
can anyone tell me if any records exist for staff who worked there in 1800's

Thanks

First place to check for such material would be PRONI, Belfast- you can search their holdings via the e-catalogue at www.proni.gov.uk
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks for that information about proni, does that mean that if I find anything I will have to physically go to the records office.

You would either have to go in person or get a researcher to look through material for you (PRONI don't have the resources to conduct searches for members of the public).

Thanks once again for this information.
Do you know how I can get the birth date of William Deane's son - ie Thomas Deane, I know he was married in 1883, but do not know when he was born.
Obviously I would prefer to do this online and free is possible.

Civil registration of births started in 1864 so if he was born before that date you need to see if church records exist.

Added- according to 1901 census Thomas was born c1846.
