Marriage lookup Gilmore/Sleeth
« on: Friday 16 May 14 01:38 BST (UK) »
Looking confirmation of marriage of William Gilmore to Elizabeth Sleeth (Born 1870) Possible area Tandragee, Scarva or Pontzpass.  Believe their daughter to be Annie Evelyn Gilmore who married David Walker 15/03/1918 at Ballymore, Tandragee.  Also can it be taken one step for parents of William Gilmore and Elizabeth Sleeth?

William John Gilmour married Elizabeth Sleeth in Seapatrick Church of Ireland on 11 June 1900, his father was John Gilmour, hers was Thomas Sleeth. The marriage was registered at Banbridge, GRONI online has the civil record should you wish to pay to see it.

I cannot see a daughter Annie Evelyn to this couple, however the Ulster Historical Foundation website AncestryIreland has an 1897 baptism in County Down for an Annie Evelyn BLANK (ie. no surname). By playing with the index search, the mother is a Hanna E Sleeth. The record content is pay to view.

Familysearch has the following civil registration:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FBNV-P4Z

GRONI online has a record for Anne Sleith on 12 April 1897, registered at Banbridge, the mother's maiden name in the search results is blank.

Focussing on the Elizabeth Sleeth side (and given the information in the previous post) this is just a possibility for Elizabeth Sleeth's birth.

GRONI online has birth records for twins Jemima  and Ann Sleeth, born 14 January 1870, registered at Banbridge, the mother's maiden name is Dilworth. Familysearch has the twins as well, they record Ann as Ann Eliza:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYYP-M3T
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYYP-M35

Also this from Familysearch "Ireland Births and Baptisms, 1620 - 1881":

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F5XP-CM9
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FPBT-XBY

(Familysearch also shows son Samuel, 1866 and daughter Lucinda, 1875.)

The parents concerned, Thomas Sleeth and Sarah Dilworth, are here, the marriage took place in Mullaghbrack Church of Ireland on 6 May 1852 (fathers' names John Sleeth and William Dilworth):

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FG66-7ZK

As I said, this is just a possibility, no more than that, so simply worth noting until you find more to rule in or out.

PRONI has the following will which adds a bit more to the feasibility:

Probate of the Will of Sarah Sleith late of Edenderry Banbridge County Down Married Woman who died 17 March 1899 granted at Belfast to Sarah M. Sleith of Edenderry Spinster.

You can find it here: http://applications.proni.gov.uk/DCAL_PRONI_WillsCalendar/willsSearch.aspx

If you click to view the image of the will, you will see reference to children Jemima, Ann Elizabeth, and others, but critically, there is also the following reference "I bequeath to my grandchild Ann Eveline the child of my daughter Ann Elizabeth..."

Sarah Sleeth wrote this will on 29 December 1898, if the information in my previous post is correct, granddaughter Annie Evelyn was only 1 year 8 months old at that point.
