Brilliant,will have to get the Cork marriage .

Just to confuse you,have found on FindMyPast an army marriage in Cairo reg 1908,but may have taken place
 end 1907,,,,,,,brides name Kathleen M Martin      [or Flora A McCloud.]    Groom is William MacPherson so most likely not correct one.

probably all a bit circumstantial - but the Fermoy place of birth for that Kathleen McPherson in Woolwich, the Cork connection, the army connection, the McPherson / O'Connor birth in Woolwich, the possible McPherson / O'Connor marriage in Cork, and the close match for years married based on the 1911 return... I think it's worth a try

At last, able to confirm that the Cork marriage for Charles Edward McPherson to Kate OConnor is not the correct one.its a Catholic marriage.

Charles McPherson Gunner R G A,,,,,,not sure what Reg that is,,,,,,,,residing Spike Island,married Queenstown Cathedral 9th June 1906 father Charles McPherson Labourer.
Brides father Jerimiah OConnor Creamery Manager,Kate a parlour maid.

Thanks for past help on this post,looks highly likely that Thomas and Fannys son Charles b 1886 never married,he died 1914.

Why have you ruled this out? marriages usually take place in the bride's church.

As already mentioned,Charles Edward McPhersons father on the marriage certificate is one Charles McPherson Labourer.This is a completely different line.

My Charles McPherson is the son of Thomas McPherson and Fanny McPherson born Cahir 2nd Nov 1886
baptised by Army Chaplain T Rothwell at R.Engineers Depot 2nd Dec 1886.He died in Flanders 1914,unmarried.

Marriage of Thomas McPherson widower and Fanny Otter widow 8th Jan 1886 gives Thomas father as John McPherson,weaver,which is my correct line from Bridge Of Teith Perthshire. a presbyterian family.

A bit more confirmation.

Charles Edward McPherson birth Medway Kent 1886,June qtr, 2a   565.   Father Charles,Lab.

Charles McPherson birth Cahir 20/11/1886,   died 1914. Father Thomas,Q.M.Sergt.

Both these men became soldiers,but are from 2 different McPherson lines,hence confusion.

Here is the death info for Fanny McPherson  widow of Quarter Master Sergeant British Army, at St Marys Cottages, Drogheda, Co Louth, 14th December 1928 age 73,her son by previous marriage George Otter present at death,was informant residing same address,on same day.Cause of death, Vascular disease of the heart.

Thanks very much for all help given on this post,will leave it open as currently researching this couples son Charles b 1886/1914   Army career,just in case a marriage for him does turn up.
