Yencock could be a mistranscription of Greenock if the first part of the word is a bit of a scrawl??

Yes I did think that too but am still trying to find out about Nether Tarrioch for 1841.  It's one of those irritating itches.

The Auchinleck census for 1841 is missing/lost. It was never filmed.

Thank you for that information.

As luck would have it (or the opposite) my other half of the family were at Corcock Bridge where the SP state there was no entries. Yet when I look on FreeCen Scotland the black smith and the inn keeper are mentioned and the address is Corsock Bridge.  All very confusing.
